Sled work shines when you want:

- Conditioning that still trains the legs — pushes and drags raise heart rate without endless jumping

Absolute max barbell skill still favors free squats, deadlifts, and presses when those are the goal. Sled basics before you grind reps
- On sled machines, set the seat/back pad and foot placement so knees track over mid-foot and the low back stays supported — take a light set to dial range before hard working sets
- On power sleds, clear a lane, wear shoes with grip, and keep the ribs stacked over the pelvis — do not chase max speed with a rounded upper back

How to progress
- Cleaner reps and posture at the same load before adding plates
- Extra quality reps (or a few more meters) in the same RPE band
